Accounting Firm — License Information

Licensed CPAs who practice as a sole proprietor must be licensed by the Department as an Accounting Firm.

At least one member of an Accounting Firm must be a CPA licensed by the Department who holds at least 51% equity in the firm.

To obtain a new Accounting Firm license:

Submit an application. A complete application includes:

  • Application for Accounting Firm License (Form #125)
  • A peer review (if licensed more than 3 years in another state and performing attest services)
  • Evidence that the firm is registered with the Department of Financial Services, if applicable (call 608-261-7577 for more information)
  • $75.00 credential fee
